Ready to plant itself firmly through tight curves, this two-seater delivers confident control and composure, though engine response is tamer than expected in the upper gears. Source: KBB.com
For 2007, the Pontiac Solstice now comes in two trims. The base convertible is largely unchanged, with a 2.4L DOHC aluminum four-cylinder, four-wheel disc brakes, and 18" aluminum wheels. An optional rear spoiler and metallic pedals are new for 2007, as is the auxiliary audio input jack added to the upgraded audio systems. The big news for 2007, though, is the addition of the GXP trim, which swaps the 2.4L Ecotec engine for a turbocharged 2.0L I4, boosting power by nearly 50% to 260 hp. Along with the fiercer engine, the GXP receives a sportier four-wheel independent suspension, a limited slip rear differential, dual exhaust outlets, and ABS and StabiliTrak. Convenience features such as cruise control, power mirrors and windows, remote keyless entry, and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls are included as well. The usual array of options, including automatic transmission, leather seats, air conditioning, a six-disc CD changer, larger speakers, and satellite radio, as well as a headliner to lessen cabin noise, help soften the Solstice's purposeful roadster experience. Doing so elevates the GXP's price to just a shade over $31,000.
